Publications Director and Graphic Designer
7230 Quivira Road Shawnee, KS 66216
My name is Michael and I am a graphic designer. I am passionate about all things digital and web, including, but not limited to, iconography, logo design, UI/UX, motion graphics, and web design. However, I am a well-rounded designer that can do any sort of design, including publication/print-based mediums and even A/V. I am very technically-minded and am adaptable to any situation.
Ever since I was little I had an innate feeling that I was going to grow up to be an artist of some sort. I’ve always liked drawing. I’m not saying that I’m very good at it, but hey! Anyway, from the sixth grade through my sophomore year of high-school, I had a desire to be a cartoonist. I loved to draw comics and cartoons that made people laugh. Because of that, I decided to try and pursue animation. However, I didn’t enjoy it very much. Plus, cartoonists don’t typically make a whole lot of money. During this time, however, I had an increasing interest in design and so I ran with it. I worked on an icon set, using none other than Microsoft PowerPoint, and made what I called the “Metro UI Icon Set” and released it online in 2012. The icon set was deeply inspired by Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS that came out around the same time. To my surprise, the set got very popular, and still is to this day. This, along with thoroughly enjoying myself while making that icon set, made me want to officially pursue graphic design. So in high-school I took some graphic design classes and loved them!
I then taught myself what high-school design classes didn’t teach me and then went to Johnson County Community College after graduating from high-school and I’ve never looked back! I am now a college graduate with an associates degree in graphic design and looking forward to making my mark on this world. 🙂
